In her sculptures, Mariela is interested in the reinterpretation of the objects and the creation of new assemblies as a game to try to find new meanings, shapes and functions.
Music, as a perfect expression of the soul, is a recurring theme that she alternatively connects with others that she is interested in, such as work, women, nature, in each artwork. She is always looking for the inner effect that each work generates in the spectator according to their personal histories, memories and feelings. When painting, she goes for abstract art trying to go beyond the conscious explanation and connect with each spectator using the secret code of the collective unconscious. She approaches color as a vibration and not as a paint. Emotions, feelings and human sensations are the objects of her paintings.
